How much does a custom website or web app cost in Hungary?

There is no single Hungarian web-build price. Template and freelance quotes sit at one end; custom-coded studio work sits at the other. Below are published market ranges, each with a source, and the bands ZERN actually uses.

In short

A template landing can still be advertised under 250,000 Ft. A custom-designed, custom-coded site from a small studio typically starts around 450,000–700,000 Ft net. Company sites, shops and PWAs climb from there. ZERN prices are net, plus 27% VAT; we do not invent figures that are not in the table.

What the Hungarian market publishes

Publishers do not use the same rules: some quotes are net plus VAT, some do not say. Where sources disagree, we show the spread rather than picking a winner. Figures are in Hungarian forints unless marked otherwise.

We sit above template and freelance work, in the upper-middle of small agencies, and below large software houses. Every package includes custom design, custom Next.js code, a WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility target and technical SEO as a baseline — not add-ons.

What raises or lowers the price

  • Number of pages and templates — a five-page site is not priced like fifteen.
  • A second language (Hungarian/English) with real hreflang, not a machine overlay.
  • Content writing, photography and original illustration, if we do that work.
  • Integrations: payments, invoicing, CRM, booking, analytics beyond a basic install.
  • A custom backend (accounts, admin, sync) versus a site that can live without one.

Questions about cost

Are these prices with VAT?
ZERN bands are net, plus 27% Hungarian VAT. Market sources mix net and unspecified quotes, which is one reason we show ranges.
Why is a custom site more than a template?
A template quote is mostly setup. A custom band pays for original interface design, a Next.js codebase you own, accessibility and search structure that are part of the build.
Can we start smaller?
Yes. A landing or a short brochure site is the usual first slice. We would rather ship a focused first version than pad a proposal.
How do we get a number for our project?
